PLAN A

The foggy weather season is approaching. During the school year, the following procedures will be used for Palo Verde Union Elementary School on extremely foggy days. A decision will be made no later than 7:10 a.m. as to whether or not the departure time of buses must be delayed.

If departure times of school buses must be delayed, a recorded call or text message will also go out on Parent Square. An announcement will also be made on Channel 18, Valley Public Television-PBS no later than 7:10 a.m. Remember that the broadcast can be updated throughout the morning!! Please stay tuned to the broadcast during the morning hours.  

Please realize that foggy days are called on a District-wide basis, and due to the size of our District, 20 square miles, not all areas in the Palo Verde Union Elementary School District have the same fog density. Therefore, while it may or may not be foggy in a particular area, the decision to delay schools is made in the best interests and safety of the students District-wide.

If a foggy day schedule must be called, your cooperation is sincerely appreciated.  Please know that your child’s safety is always our number one priority!

Plan A

A recorded message notification will go out to all families by no later than 7:10 a.m. announcing a PLAN A Schedule.

• IF the fog has cleared by 9:35 am, buses will start leaving the school to pick up students @ 10:00 am.

• Classes will begin at 10:45 a.m. for all students. (Please DO NOT drop off students before 10:15 am.)

• Students will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m.  

• ProYouth Afterschool Program: Will continue under the same schedule - 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

If the PLAN A Foggy Day schedule is called on an early dismissal day, the early dismissal day will be canceled and school will dismiss at 3:00 p.m.

PLAN B

Classes are CANCELLED for the day.

If the foggy conditions are still deemed too dangerous to drive in, this notification will not be made until after 9:35 a.m.
